Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Position Summary: This position is responsible for creating, maintaining and overseeing this facility’s safety and health programs in compliance with EPA/DEP and OSHA regulations. This person will also be responsible for achieving and maintaining ISO 14001 conformance. This position will also focus on identifying hazardous conditions and practices that exist in the workplace. They will assist in identifying potential hazards in systems, equipment, products, facilities, or processes planned for use in the future. This person is responsible for establishing guidelines needed for maintaining compliance to EPA/DEP and OSHA regulations deemed necessary for Bomar and Dymax.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations (Hazardous Waste, Title V, Tier II, TRI, Stormwater, etc.)
- Achieve and maintain ISO 14001 conformance.
- Creates health and safety policies and programs applicable to Bomar/Dymax and trains employees on them.
- Assist in identifying and correcting current or future environmental, occupational health and safety hazards.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in related fields of study to the position or 5 years of equivalent work experience. Knowledge of federal, state, local environmental regulatory laws required.
R&D Chemist (Chemist I)

Position Summary: Responsible for the development of new and unique oligomers, proactively enhance existing syntheses and assist in the identification of viable offset materials to aid in the innovation and commercialization of company products.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform/assist with the syntheses of new oligomers with the goal of commercialization.
- Modifiy existing oligomers to meet customers needs.
- Develop offset materials to ensure profitability and aid in robustness of product line.
- Complete all projects according to desired specifications and timelines.
- Actively contribute to the R&D team to drive innovation.
- Prepare test materials and accurately and neatly report all data by maintaining laboratory notebooks.
- Perform analytical test as required: GPC, IR, Viscosity, etc.
- Troubleshoot production complications.
- Provides Technical Director and technical staff with suggestions on essential improvement, simplification, and cost reduction of products and processes.
- Write/participate in technical papers and trade shows.
- Accomplish all of the above via a strong sense of teamwork and at all times consistent with the Dymax/Bomar vision/mission statements.
Education/Experience/Skills:
BS/MS in Chemistry, preferably having a background in polymer synthesis, applied polymer science and coatings.
Quality Control Technician

Position Summary: The Quality Control Technician’s primary responsibility is to perform QC testing for Bomar, including all raw materials and products, and entering the information into multiple computer programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Receive Raw Materials into JDE and assign JDE lot numbers
- Perform the required Quality Control testing on finished products and incoming raw materials
- Perform in-process testing of Bomar products
- Enter QC results into the Quality Control database
- Responsible for QC status of inventory items by both labeling and electronic (JDE)
- Assist production when required
- This position requires effective communication with the Technical, Production, and Administrative departments at Bomar
- Aid and assist with testing of new products during the scale-up phase
- Aid and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions resulting internal or external sources
- Aid and assist with raw material evaluation
- Data entry work as assigned by the Quality Manager
- Responsible for housekeeping and upkeep of the Quality Control laboratory
- Maintain laboratory generated waste
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager that pertain to Bomar’s business
- Team player
Education/Experience/Skills:
- HS Diploma minimum
- Prior laboratory or chemical industry experience required
- Strong computer and math skills
- Ability to become familiar with analytical results and recognize inconsistencies
- Fluent in English written and oral
- Ability with basic algebra and a basic understanding of statistical information (averages and other basics)
- Familiar with Outlook, Microsoft Word, data entry (in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel) and show an ability to learn specialized programs
- Ability to work with analytical laboratory instrumentation (FTIR, GPC, Karl Fischer, moisture analyzer, Brookfield viscometer and others), Training will be provided on the job
